Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Calabar Centre organised a 2-Day training of facilitators for the Second Chance Education (SCE) component of the EU/UN spotlight initiative project with support from UNWomen.

This is part of project activities targeted at providing literacy and numeracy skills for survivors of Violence Against Women and Girls & Harmful Practices (VAWG/HP).

The Second Chance Education will be implemented in Odukpani, Akamkpa and Yakurr L.G.A.s in Cross River State.

The training was held from 1st to 2nd August 2022 in partnership with the Cross River State Agency for Adult and Non-Formal Education.

Highlights of the training included pep talk by the Special Adviser on Women affairs, Ministry of Women Affairs, presentation by the Director Agency for adult and non Formal Education etc.

Facilitators were taken through topics such as Violence Against women and girls, personal skills, identifying the needs of an adult learner, methods of facilitation, the SCE curricilum, documentation and progressive evaluation of learners.
