Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Calabar

Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Calabar provides a safe space environment for young girls to feel physically and emotionally secure without exposure to discrimination, criticism, harassment, or any other physical harm. In commemoration of International Women’s month 2023, with the theme ‘Digital Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality,’ a public speaking session was organized for the girls on April 2, 2023.

Each group was represented and spoke about women’s achievements in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The girls’ performances were fantastic, and the speakers urged their fellow young girls not to underestimate themselves.”But instead, they should be motivated by what other women involved in STEM have contributed to society at large. Some of these women included Ada Nduka Oyom- Founder, She Code Africa, and Odunayo Eweniyi- Piggyvest Co-Founder. Additionally, the judges did a great job in selecting a winner as it was a difficult task for them.

As it is always said, “in every competition, there must be a winner,” and the winners were able to gather a score of 99 out of 100. Attached are some picture excerpts from the event:”
