Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Calabar Centre, with support from HIVOS, conducted a Community Dialogue on Values, Social Norms, and SRHR of Right Holders (RH) as part of the WeLead Project. The event took place on July 31st, 2024, at Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Cross River State.

 

The dialogue, which was attended by members of various Right Holder groups, religious leaders, traditional leaders, health service providers, CSOs, and community members, aimed to:

– Engage with critical stakeholders towards the realization of SRHR for RHs.

– Discuss the roles and actions required by each identified stakeholder.

– Seek support for a fair, safe, and non-discriminatory environment for right holders in organizations, institutions, agencies, and the Akpabuyo community.

 

Highlights of the event included:

 

– Presentation of the WeLead Project.

– Discussions on existing social norms and values and their effect on the realization of the rights of right holders.

– A question-and-answer session.

– Experience sharing, which added value to the general discussions.
