As part of the EU/UN Spotlight Initiative Project, Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Calabar Centre in partnership with Gender and Development Action (GADA) organised graduation ceremonies for 100 beneficiaries of 2021 empowerment/skills acquisition programme for out of school girls in Akamkpa and Odukpani Local Government Areas of Cross River State.

The events were held on the 29th and 30th of September 2021 at the various council areas. Beneficiaries were trained on skills such as Hair dressing, Make-up Artistry, Baking/Confectioners, Soap making/cosmetology and Shoemaking.

Starter packs ranging from hair dryers, rollers, washers, filing machines, hammers, punchers, makeup kits, baking utensils, materials and tools for production of cleaning agents were presented to the graduates.

The graduates and community stakeholders present at the event expressed appreciation to the EU/UN for the support and the beneficiaries promised to utilise the tools positively.
