International Women’s Day 2022

Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Nigeria celebrates the International Women’s Day (IWD) 2022.

The IWD is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women’s achievements or rally for women’s equality.

The theme for 2022 is “Gender Equality Today for A Sustainable Tomorrow’

The International Women’s Day (IWD) which is marked annually on March 8th one of the most important days of the year to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about women’s equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity and fundraise for female-focused charities.

Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Calabar Centre organised an activity on the 13th of March 2022 to celebrate the International Women’s Day with the beneficiaries of her Safe Space Education program.

The International Women’s Day is marked annually to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about women’s equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity and fundraise for female-focused charities.

The aim of activity was to enlighten the adolescent girls/ boys on the importance of the international women’s day and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Highlight of the event featured: brain teasers, quiz competition, dance and drama presentation centered around the IWD theme. And also on the existence and content of the CRS Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law in which seeks to protect both males and females against Gender Based Violence.
