International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year. It is a focal point in the movement for women’s rights. The socialist movement and communist countries predominantly celebrated the day until the United Nations adopted it in 1975.
The theme of 2019 International Women’s Day is BALANCE FOR BETTER, and the significance of this day centers on civil awareness day, Women and girls, Anti-sexism and Anti-Discrimination.
Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Nigeria celebrates womanhood in Nigeria and the women who have made meaningful contributions and achievements across different careers and works of life and the world at large.
