Public Education forum and dissemination of the Cross River State Violence Against Person Prohibition (VAPP) and Disability Right Laws

 

Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI) Calabar Centre under the Sharing Canadian Expertise For Inclusive Development And Gender Equity (SHARE) project with support from CUSO International in partnership with Global Affairs Canada, held a Public Education forum and dissemination of the Cross River State Violence Against Person Prohibition (VAPP) and Disability Right Laws on the 3rd of March of 2022 and 2 radio programmes to sensitize the public on the Laws.

The goal of SHARE is to improve the economic and/or social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people particularly women and girls.

The essence of the forum was to sensitize participants on the SHARE project and its objectives, issues surrounding Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) prevention and response, the VAPP and Disability Right laws, and dissemination of the copies of the Laws to stakeholders.

In attendance were representatives of Government MDAs, Religious and traditional Leaders, Law enforcement agencies, schools, Women groups CSOs, etc.
