Advocacy Visit to the Honorable Commissioner for Health Cross River State

As part of activities to mark the 2023, 16 days of Activism against Gender Based Violence, the Cross River State Ministry of Women Affairs and Civil Society Organizations paid an advocacy visit to the Honorable Commissioner for Health Cross River State Dr. Henry Ayuk (Ph.D) on the 28th of November 2023. The visit was led by the permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs Mary Egbe.

During the visit, they appealed for strengthened collaboration to combat gender based violence including child early and forced marriage. Some of the “asks” included to

– Conduct awareness and re-training programmes for medical personnel on response to sexual and gender based violence especially in emergency situations and

– Give directives to all Health facilities in the state to report their data on SGBV to the state ministry of woman affairs.

The meeting took place at the ministry of Health in Calabar.
